External Hard Drive for camcorders?

Is there any way to back up the video from a flash memory card into a portable external hard drive? I’m considering buying a flash memory-based camcorder. On top of my head, I’m interested buying Sony HDR-CX7 or Panasonic HDC-SD9. If someone can recommend other brands, i'd really appreciate it also.
