Default basic AVCHD editing help.

For those of us without the latest and fastest PC's, is it still possible to do basic AVCHD editing?

All I would want to do is simple trimming and combining of clips, cuts and reorders, add fades and transitions etc, titles and a simple sound track to vacation footage etc. I'm not interested in special effects, colour matching, contrast correcting and other things that I read that many software packages are capable of.

Is this possible with, for arguments sake, the bundled software that comes with Canon HF10/100 cameras? Do I also need some other DVD burning software?

Will it work on a PC that's a couple of years old?

Thanks!
