Thumbs up Sony Ericsson to produce first ever Windows mobile device!

Who's as excited as I am with this? Handset maker Sony Ericsson has just revealed plans to produce its first ever Windows Mobile device aimed at boosting the company’s presence in the North American smart phone market.

I suppose this is something that can rival iPhone

The product is a business-oriented phone with a QWERTY keyboard, but a family of device is expected. Microsoft hopes Sony Ericsson will leverage its camera and music expertise to help build more consumer-oriented devices. “They’ve really got some great consumer brands that we’d love to partner with and bring to Windows Mobile,” Microsoft Vice President Pieter Knook said in an interview. The device will be known as the Xperia X1, featuring a 3-inch VGA display with an “arc slider” to slide out the keyboard. The device will support HSDPA, HSUPA and Wi-Fi.

whoa What do you think about this?

Yup! Sony Ericsson execs call it a "premium" convergence device and forewarn that it won't be cheap but Xperia X1 mobile phone will be worth every cent you spend on it. The phone will be available only in the North American in the second half of 2008. Some commentator hailed the phone as the new reference in terms of productivity and entertainment and it was said that its the most exciting Windows Mobile phone since the Blackjack 2.

It would probably be iPhones rival. X1's "luscious aluminum shell" and "amazingly sharp display" would "put Apple's [iPhone] to shame." iPhone so far is available anywhere in the globe, while X1 will be available only at certain areas, but I guess sooner or later it will be available worldwide and iPhone should do something about it, or else, they will lose its market (IMO). Well, lets wait and see how this phone performs.

This phone is interesting. It has kool features as well that ranges from entertainment and multimedia applications, to web access, personal organizer-type capabilities, and a variety of communication options.

It also has a high-resolution touch screen quad-band GSM/EDGE, on board Wi-Fi for short-range networking, GPS for route finding, FM Radio and Bluetooth.

The X1's Internet connectivity features are superior to any mobile phone Sony-Ericsson has ever produced to date.

It offers HSUPA (High Speed Upload Packet Access) that transmits video and other media almost as quickly as it comes downstream.

And powering all these features is a 520-MHz ARM11 processor running Windows Mobile 6.

This surely will rival Apple's iPhone
