Default Payments using cellphones

Has anybody tried paying for anything using their cellular phones? I've always wondered how safe those transactions are. I mean, are there possibilities that our personal information can get hacked or something?

In my opinion, there's always that possibility. In any modes of payment, there's always a risk of that system being hacked (like ATMs, internet banking and others). I'm wondering about this issue myself. This latest article from the International Herald Tribune site may shed light on the issue.

From what I now, making payments using the mobile phones are becoming a trend because the method eliminates unnecessary charges such as services charges (if there are such, it would be lesser than the traditional). There's always that risk. I guess people must be vigilant about this matter.

Just be careful not to give away your own number. It has become easy to pay or receive money using your cellphone. Some network providers offer such service to their subscribers. All you have to do is complete some simple form and then ask for tracking or reference number. You can receive or pay money on banks, network providers and cellphone centers.

Going on the same mindset with alphaben, my advice would be to always keep track of your transactions by having tracking numbers or electronic receipts. This is to avoid confusion on charges that may arise. There's no such thing as a completely secure system as it is created by humans and humans can also find a way to hack their way in so in the end, we just have to be vigilant!

I am now using my mobile phones to make financial transactions like bills payment and so far, I have not encountered any system glitch or diverted funds. However, this does not mean that I am taking things for granted. I am glad that this matter is discussed in this forum. I read the article suggested by Einstein and now I am taking notes of your advices. Thanks!
