Default I tried connecting it to the computer my motorola l6

Hello,

I have bought a Motorola L6 a year ago and just now, I tried connecting it to the computer. I just found out that I needed the software Motorola Phone Tools to connect it, but it never came with the phone. So, I downloaded the Motorola Phone Tool version 4.0.uif and I don't know how it works. I try connecting the phone to my computer and it detects it, but it can't find the software that is compatible with it. How do I get the Motorola Phone Tools that I downloaded to work with my phone?

Thanks in advance.

My L6 works with latest Motorola phone tools after I updated through Motorola (my warranty was out of date - didn't matter chose an in-warranty period). However, because the phone was locked to telstra and I had ported to Virgin, the update caused the phone to require a subsidy code. After a couple of frustrating calls to Virgin and Motorola, I went into a telstra shop (not all shops were able to deal with this issue - so call them first) the guy looked at the battery and worked out the subsidy code from it (and wrote it down 4 me for any future dramas) and it was sorted no charge. The L6 then worked fine with the latest version of Motorola phone tools.

BTW: If you backup ur phone contacts, MPT saves it to a hidden folder =
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Local Settings\Application Data\BVRP Software\Motorola Phone Tools\Backup\L6

Hope this helps.
