Default Flight mode

This has been a bit of a thinker for me --- how come not all cellphones have "flight modes" in them? So far, I only think Sony Ericsson has this feature. Shouldn't cellphones have this especially for users who travel frequently? Or does the "flight mode" feature require so much that other cellphone manufacturers find it impractical to include in their units?

I read that the newer Nokia models have "flight mode" options already. In my opinion, this option may not be that important since the user could not use the phone for calls or sending SMS anyway.

Not really an answer to your query but if you use flight mode, you can use some of the phone's applications without turning the phone on and turning its call/sms features and stuff.

I have an SE phone that I can use as an mp3 player during flights.
