Downloading music from limewire

I hear about this limewire site where you can download music to your iPods but I don't know how it works. They say its free. Can someone help me please. Some sites ask for payment every time I try to download.

You can download Limewire Basic from Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent «. I recommend that you download your songs from limewire through your pc so that you can scan for any viruses before you upload your audio or video files to your iPod. On the other hand, it's better to just download your songs from itunes.

download on itunes are not free I guess.
Do you know any other file sharing sites other than Limewire with comprehensive music downloads? I heard a lot of people were able to download their favorite songs for free and didn't spend any cost for it, so I want to take advantage of that also. I'll appreciate it if you can give me other links. ^_____^
