Default This is all new to me

I need to re-rip my entire CD collection, and I need help getting started with this kind of stuff. I have downloaded EAC and the latest version of Lame. I have also been advised to use a utility called Mp3 gain to keep all files @ the same output level. I am new to the EAC software so I would appreciate any assitance in setting it up to do what I need.
I believe that Lame is set up on the EAC program, as it is listed, and I would like to rip my files on a VBR setting that will conserve some space but will have little loss of quality. This is all new to me as I have always used WMA through WMP which was very easy to work with.

EAC software? dunno, but I use CDDEX to rip any and all cds for my collection, it's free and it works great, it's very customizable as well.
