Tips for taking care of my digital camera

I have bought a Kodak Easyshare C653 last month, Its my first digital camera so I am not much knowledgeable enough on its maintenance.

What are the do's and dont's that I have to keep in mind to keep my digital camera safe from anything? How to clean the lens safely, where should I keep it, etc etc.

Any tips would help
