Default SD card Error

How do I fix this SD card error? When I inserted the card, I got an error message displayed in the screen. What should I do?

SD card errors usually occur when the card is not formatted by the camera at first and it’s full of files and folders. Use your camera to format the card. If you are not able to format it through your camera, you may have to use a USB card reader. Insert your SD card in the USB card reader, then, plug it in to your pc. Open your SD through Windows explorer. Delete all files and folders stored in the card. After deletion, you may place your SD card back to your camera for formatting.
