Default Battery recommendations

I travel a lot and I love to take pictures on sceneries. What battery would be ideal for me? Can you recommend a good brand?

hi claire! a li-ion battery is always recommended. what type of digital camera do you own? does it use rechargeable batteries? how many batteries does your camera need?

i particularly like sanyo eneloops. very good rechargeables. the price of sanyo eneloops, though, is about two times the cost of regular ni-mh batteries. however, what i like about them is that the discharge rate is a lot slower than the regular ni-mh cells.

since you said you love to take a lot of pictures, i suggest that you opt for that.

I got a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H3, yes, rechargeable batteries, a lithium-ion battery. But my problem is, if i happen to shoot videos, my battery gets low so easily, how can I charge them If i was in the middle of the road. I plan to buy a new digital camera and this time I want to consider the battery.

Well Claire, I recommend you to use cameras with AA batteries. Since you said you travel a lot then that's what is ideal for you. LI-ion batteries when runs out of power, gives you no choice but to plug the battery into a power outlet to recharge it. This would mean that you need to bring with you the cords and chargers. Hassle right? And if you happen to be in a remote area and your camera runs out of power, where can you find an outlet? Unlike if you are using those cameras powered by AA batteries, when runs out of power, all you have to do is throw them away and replace them with new ones. I recommend Energizer E2 Lithium line. Two or three sets of such batteries can usually take you through a 10-day trip.

You can try a AA-powered Canon PowerShot.
