Question Setting up a wireless network

Is a wireless network between two desktops and a laptop doable? I have two desktops at home and I also own a laptop and I want to know if I can set up a wireless network between the three? Or should it really be a WIRED network complete with routers?

as far as i know, you can't have a wireless network between two desktops and a laptop. in the first place, desktops don't have wireless capabilities. what i can suggest though is that you get a wired network instead. what you could do is:

- buy a hub (to ascertain that the internet speed - that is, if you plan to also use the computers to browse the internet - will be divided equally among the three computers)
- buy a router (i suggest getting a d-link or a linksys router. i use a d-link router and it has worked really well for me)
- get cables long enough to connect the two desktops and laptop

a wired network is the most ideal for the situation that you have at home.

hope this helps

^ I agree with Fortuner. Better to go wired.

In addition - if you really want to go wireless, you would still need to purchase additional equipment for the desktops in order for them to 'accommodate' wireless queries/connections. That'll cost way too much as opposed to just sticking it out with a wired connection.

Anyway, there are two desktops and just one laptop so just think of it this way: whatever's two should be given more importance than to whatever's just one

Default Wireless Network

Harry, setting up a wireless network with all those components is quite simple. All you need is wireless adapters for your desktop(s). Those should automatically detect a signal from your wireless router. If you'd like to know more about wireless networks and installation visit CXtec.com. We have a large information center regarding issues like this and network cables.
