it says file download where it used to say nothing

I have buttons in the front of my laptop that turn the volume up or down. My laptop runs on Windows Vista. Anyway, when I press them a little bar comes up in the top corner saying what the volume is, but on the taskbar, it says file download where it used to say nothing. Please tell me if it this is bad, or just a glitch on Windows Vista?
