Default Device Manager Errors

I badly need your advice or comments on this. On my pc, I get error messages when I tried to view/open my optical drives. Some of the error messages display like this, “The device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (Code 31)”, second, “A driver for this device was not required, and has been disabled (Code 32 or Code 31)”, third, “Your registry might be corrupted (Code 19). How do I fix this? Any ideas and recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sometimes, when you remove a CD or DVD recording program or any program for that matter, those errors display. What you need is to delete your registry entries, UpperFilters registry entry and LowerFilters registry entry. Check this link for proper solution to your problem. Don’t worry, there is a solution to this kind of problem. Just keep in mind to follow the instructions properly. Otherwise, more serious problems will occur.

You can no longer access the CD drive or the DVD drive, or you receive an error message after you remove a CD recording program or a DVD recording program in Windows XP: "error code 31"

If your optical drives come with drivers (in CD format, I'm sure) then keep them always handy.

There's another knowledge base article within the Microsoft support site about the matter aside from the one given by Dizzy.

Cannot Access CD-ROM and "Code 31" Error Message in Device Manager After You Remove Adaptec Easy CD Creator from Your Computer

Hope we have assisted you with your concern TomJ.
