The good thing about this kind of camcorder is that you can choose what format to use based on shooting conditions, either record to the hard drive for longer shoots or record to a DVD for instant enjoyment. You can transfer and edit video in your computer or edit in-camera and burn to DVD. Multi-format camcorders are much larger and heavier compared to those hard drive models only.
