  • Summary: Had a Cuisinart for many years that constantly had to be repaired and I wanted one that would work well and no be a problem to fix. It does so much more than my previous food processor that it is highly recommended.

  • Summary: Have to admit made great coffee while it lasted. Then the error 2 appeared. I did read the reviews before buying; some people are very satisfied with this machine. Was hoping I would be one of them. Thank God I kept my small Cuisinart. Do not want another one, will opt for a refund.

Needed a new one

boo hoo, Amazon
29 March 2013
  • Summary: I ordered this KitchenAid coffee maker because the one I had before gave up the ghost. I really, really liked the solid empire red better than the mix of red and stainless steel look. So far no problems and it arrived quickly. I just hope it lasts as long as my orginal one did. Wish KitchenAid would go back to the solid color, this one looks a little cheap.

Awkward carafe lid

Anonymous, Amazon
8 March 2013
  • Summary: Beware of the design of this carafe: the top is poorly designed with two plastic pegs tightly fitting into the top. In order to take the smaller part of the top off for washing, you have to wiggle the pegs loose, and not surprisingly, one or both of the pegs breaks off. The color is great, the coffee good, but I wouldn't buy this again given the design flaw. The possibility of return or replacement through this seller expired one month after purchase.

Nine of the reported problems

Phill R. Upp, Amazon
12 December 2012
  • Summary: We've had this model for about 4 years and haven't experienced any of the problems reported by other purchasers. My only complaint is that the internal water filter replacement cartidges are difficult to find. I have found them on Amazon and have ordered them on line.

Carafe--not really dishwasher safe

tekHedd "tekHedd", Amazon
5 December 2012
  • Summary: It's a 5 star coffeemaker with qualifications. Oh, it works great, but the rubber seal that attaches the plastic top to the glass body came loose on mine. I'm guessing this is from the dishwasher, as the replacement carafe has lasted years with only hand washing. KitchenAid's service is great, it's just a flaw in the design. I dock it a star for the carafe, but give it back for the "4 cup or less" slow brew mode. I recommend it, but hand wash the carafe.
