Excerpt: Fantastic purchase! I dried fruits and veggies to get started, now I have a batch of maple pecan granola waiting for me for breakfast. Last night I binged on completely healthy-no-oil faux "cheesy' kale chips, and the banana/ strawberry fruit leathers are amazing! I could not recommend this machine more!! Best Purchase Ever Indeed!
Summary: I've used my Excaliber dehydrator to do some 'raw cooking'. It does take some getting used to with the time it takes to prepare 'raw meals', but that would be the case with any dehydrator. I need to work at my planning skills. Works great with dehydrating vegetables... I am looking forward to making my own dried fruits and leather as local fruit comes into season.
Summary: I long ago accepted that if I am going to buy a kitchen appliance, I may as well start with the biggest & best, because sooner or later I will want bigger & stronger, and wanna-be's don't cut it. My sister-in-law bought a cheaper dehydrator (big box store type) "just to see" if she'd like it. She didn't! It took too long... it couldn't process enough food at once to justify the time spent.... so she gave it away.
Summary: We've had this product now for just about a month, and we've made 3 whole batches of Strawberry Leathers. Two batches of Raspberry leathers, and some failed attempts from being too hurried to look up a recipe. We've done dried apple rings, and we're even looking to do apple cinnamon chips. I will be attempting Kale chips and Tofu Jerky.
