A fine Makita addition.

  • Summary: Great torch, charges really quick and lasts for ages. It is expensive, but if you have charger and batteries off another Makita tool I would recommend this. Great for work, camping etc.

Flashlight

PEP, amazon.com
6 February 2012
  • Summary: This flashlight arrived in a cardboard without original packaging. Delivery time was good. Product is ok, not great. Sometimes the on/off button doesn't work and the light will cut out or not turn on for a couple of tries.

Superb after the upgrade

OutdoorEnthusiast, amazon.com

  • Summary: The .6 amp xenon bulb that comes with this flashlight is reasonably bright (the florescent Makita only has a .2 amp bulb so it's quite dim). If I was rating this on the stock bulb, the BML185 would just get 3 stars due to the silly high price. But I found one on a famous auction web site for considerably less. And I also found an LED upgrade from Hong Kong that has about 50 bulbs and only cost around $30.

Makita is still the king of Lithium ion tools.

Moonlight, amazon.com
23 December 2011
  • Summary: Makita lamps are perhaps the most light-weighted and fastest charging batteries in the world. Lately the new batteries came with the lamp order shows Made in China, (used to be made in Japan), after checking with Makita, ends up most of the batteries cells are made in China anyway. I just hope they are made in US. And if Makita needs improvement on these lamps, make it made in USA, have longer warranty instead of just 1 year, and have an LED version.

Overpriced

Alan N. Fleming, amazon.com
6 December 2011
  • Summary: I am a big fan of Makita tools. I have many Makita 18v tools and I love them. However, this is a lightweight, made in China, plastic flashlight. The rear on/off push-button is a poor design. Should have a front trigger switch which is much easier to use with one hand. I like the click-stop head positions. However, there are no other special features. This product should sell for $12..00 to $15.00.

Makita should be ashamed - what a hunk of junk

LithKnight "LithKnight", amazon.com

  • Summary: I am a long time Makita fan and I must say the LOW quality of this light is a shock to me. I bought it as part of a large kit of 18V tools so I really can't return it. First of all, I have the "auto off" feature. It can be sitting on a stable surface and POOF it goes out. Toggle the switch twice and back it comes. Will it stay on? Maybe, but don't trust it. (Not safe during Hurricane Irene!) Secondly, if you rotate the head while it is lit it can break the hot filament.

Flimsy build

  • Summary: This flashlight is not build like the quality as their drills. The handle and battery holder are very solid but any above the handle are build like by cheap tools.. will not recommend this tool.

Great addition to any tool set

Joshua, amazon.com

  • Summary: This light is great. It puts out a ton of light and I love not having to worry about keeping D or C batteries around to power flashlights. the adjustable head is great. I have used this many times in crawl spaces, attics, and working on my cars. It feels light and frail, but it has not broken on me yet.

Not a bad flashlight.

dstyron, amazon.com
5 September 2011
  • Summary: It's worth the money if you already own the Makita tools. My big complaint is when I'm in a crawl space and put some weight on the top of the light it shuts off on its own. Not sure why.
