Excerpt: I've had older maglites of various sizes for many years, so when I decided I wanted an LED light that would last longer, maglite was the first brand that came to mind. My main purpose for this flashlight was in case I stay out photographing late and need a light to make it back to my vehicle. I wanted a low power mode that would last. High power is very bright, while low power is good enough to avoid tripping in the dark, or see inside a bag.
Summary: Bought this for my son who works on computers. The brightness helps him to see everything quite well. He also just likes the design of it and it is fun to play with. One thing though, the batteries that came with it, had no juice. Fortunately I had bought more batteries.
Summary: Who can deny the all around quality of a maglite, not me certainly. I bought this to replace a previous one I had "misplaced" (someone probably walked off with it, and I don't really blame them, these things are super sweet). Accelerometer controls are awesome, dimming function is a godsend. Beam is bright, and spot is pretty tight. Only complaint is the LED pcb is loose in the tube which means it rattles, doesn't effect performance though so no points off from me.
