works for exercise bike, not so much for treadmill

exerciser in Maryland, amazon.com
5 February 2012
  • Summary: Mounts easily and works fine as a laptop shelf on the exercise bike, since there's little vibration. Did not work as hoped for on the treadmill, as the shelf shakes too much once you get to speeds above 3 mph. If you are just doing slow walking, it would be fine, but at higher speeds, we are concerned that the computer would be damaged as a result of all the vibration.

COOKING WITH GAS NOW !!

Terry A. Best "boomboombest", amazon.com
25 January 2012
  • Summary: This thing is great. It will hold a 17 incn laptop, just center it. I have a CARDIO ZONE CLUB HRT treadmill with a magazine shelf . The top is curved so I used both straps . USE BOTH ANYWAY FOR PIECE OF MIND. I added 2 STICKY VELCRO TABS to the back , they stick to the magazine shelf and the SurShelf for added stability. Now my workouts are not boreing.

Awesome product

TSiletz, amazon.com
11 January 2012
  • Summary: I love the surf shelf! I allows me to watch movies and tv shows on my computer while walking on my treadmill. It was easy to set up and is sturdier that I would have expected. The only downside that I can see is that it sticks out from the control panel making the usable surface of the belt a little shorter. This isn't a problem for me since I am only 5'5" but I'm guessing taller people may have difficulty getting a full running stride.

Does not fit my treadmill

Terrier2, amazon.com
5 January 2012
  • Summary: There's no way to attach this laptop holder to my treadmill at a height where I could actually use the laptop. My treadmill is a Proform 625. It has a slot in the front for propping up a book. The Surfshelf holder has to go above the slot because the top of the holder is supposed to align with the top of the treadmill console. The holder is secured with one strap around the treadmill crossbar below the console.

Laptop shelf didn't fit my preferred bike

Joanne M. Repass, amazon.com
27 December 2011
  • Summary: This laptop shelf works well on some types of bikes, but not the recumbent bike that I prefer. It also seemed a bit expensive for the construction of the product I received.

Just works!

Rebecca N, amazon.com
22 December 2011
  • Summary: While this is plastic-y and feels a bit cheap, it absolutely works perfectly. I use with with my laptop on my Nautilus US14 and it's perfect. It moves aside easily and without hassle if I need to reach the controls, but it stays in place when I need it to as well. Totally makes it fare more enjoyable to work out. I'm a laptop junkie.

Awkward Setup, But A Must Have!

Steve, amazon.com
10 December 2011
  • Summary: It wasn't quick and easy figuring out how to strap this on to my particular treadmill. It was even somewhat frustrating at first. But since it's designed to work with various machines, this is kind of understandable. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. Since getting it setup, it's worked out very well. My other family members can easily see the treadmill's screen through the clear plastic of the shelf without me having to remove it... so it's on to stay :-P.

Only Supports Laptops Up to 15" - NO 17" Fit

Andrew, amazon.com
6 December 2011
  • Summary: Just a heads up to anyone thinking about getting this. Really not suited for laptops larger than 15" and you really can't "work" on it, it's too "bouncy", just a fair warning.

Made my own "treadmill workstation" and saved $4,400.00!!!

Princess Consuela "Aunt Banana", amazon.com
26 November 2011
  • Summary: LOVE the SurfShelf! Use it 3-5 hours per day while I work. Sitting will kill you. Treadmill workstations are $4,500. Made my own for $140 with a treadmill I picked up on Craigslist and the SurfShelf. Amazing change in how I feel (working 50-60 hours per week on the computer). I break up the day walking 1.5 to 2 mph for an hour or so at a time on the treadmill while I work away. Highly recommend this product!

Simple, yet works

Anne, amazon.com
25 November 2011
  • Summary: Since I work from home, I wanted to be able to get some time in on my treadmill especially listening on long conf calls. I had no idea what kind of products were available to be able to use my laptop and treadmill at the same time. I was excited to find the Surf Shelf and at a price worth trying. I have had it about a week and love it. It works perfectly and I know my laptop is secure.
