Almost perfect

T. Hills, amazon.com
5 February 2012
  • Summary: This is my second one of these I've owned, I lent the other one a couple of years ago because in my old apt it didn't fit any of the doorways, not sure what happened to it so I ordered another one. This one the holes for the bolts didn't seem to line up very well, but maybe that was user error. I don't remember a problem with my first one.

Cheap Cheap Cheap Piece of Junk

iafb83, amazon.com
5 February 2012
  • Summary: I put it together and there were two serious issues that should not have passed quality control: 1) the two angled bars did not have the same angle. Therefore, when properly put together, the bar was not straight, so much that there was nearly an inch gap at the top of the doorway. I feared it would fall with the first pullup. 2) There is a notch that is supposed to lock the two pieces of metal together that comprise the long bar.

So so bar. Horrible quality control.

Ernesto Chavez, amazon.com
4 February 2012
  • Summary: I bought the Iron Gym bar initially for P90X and insanity workouts. It was awkward to assemble because the drill holes were not made in the correct place. They were too close together. When I saw the finished work, it did not like a professional or well made product. Only with a picture can you see what I mean. But i'm too lazy too post one. The problem is more likely a quality control issue. It looked odd and didn't know if it would work.

ok but not great

Oliver Meyer "olly", amazon.com
4 February 2012
  • Summary: this pull up bar is ok but is limited. firstly the wide grips are useless as they rest against the door frame and you cant move the foam grips. the grips themselves are very poor quality and have broken down and split. they provide poor grip aswell. you get what you pay for and i expect a high end bar that either mounts to the wall or ceiling is the way to go.

Works Well, but it's a little... off.

C. Nelson, amazon.com
2 February 2012
  • Summary: Be very careful when you put this item together. It might come out a little... off. Slanted, if you will. Mine is a little off. However, I'm too lazy to take it all apart and put it back together. It still gets the job done and can handle more than 300 lbs of weight. I know because my very... large... friend tried to do a pull-up. And they weigh close to 400 if not more. Yeah. While I don't have that problem, it's nice to know this bar and my door frame can handle it.

Poorly Constructed

C. Jennings, amazon.com
2 February 2012
  • Summary: The holes on the long bar of my Iron Gym were approximately half an inch too far apart and facing opposite one another. As such, other components had to stretch to accommodate it and the center could not be fully secured. After a quick test (eight chin-ups at 143lb), it already showed signs of warping in the middle. The material seemed to be of poor quality as well. I would recommend simply buying a few pipes and making one yourself.

Looking for a Quality Workout Bar? You Won't Find It Here.

Koredova, amazon.com
1 February 2012
  • Summary: I was excited to get this workout bar, put it together and see how exactly out of shape I was. First thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was that two of the pieces were rusty. So much rust in fact that it had found its way to one of the grips causing it to appear orange. Not a good start. I was worried about the main bar being two pieces but based on the good reviews I looked past it.

Flimsy Construction

Poetry Through The Lens, amazon.com
1 February 2012
  • Summary: The construction of this version of IRON GYM (made in China) is not sturdy. I only weigh 140lbs and the middle part where the pipes connect bent on my first underhand grip pull-up. I doubt this will hold 300lbs. I also don't think this will last a long time as I bet the bolted joints will loosen-up due to soft pipes used.
