Summary: If you have a Garmin (water resistant) traning watch, you can do all of the functions from this Lap Tracker PLUS download your statistics to your PC. You can not download any statistics from this Lap Tracker. I find it to be more "show & tell" instead of a true training unit. I used this once and the unit leaked in water. Water entered the unit and destroyed the entire unit. The unit is not easy to set up or navigate through the features.
Summary: Like most respondents, I was looking forward to receiving this as I have given up with the Swimovate Poolmate (which can't cope with pools less than 15 metres long - usually undercounts by between 15 and 20%). Similar to many reviewers, I found the instructions to be slightly confusing, not intuitive and in TINY print (font size about 4pt). Now to the pool. I found that it stuck to the end wall fine. HOWEVER, I swim at home in a 12 metre pool after work.
Summary: I was so excited to use this. I figured out the instructions, set it up with all the measurements and put it in the pool. The bubbles kept coming. It doesn't work if you let the bubbles out. It has been 3 hours since I unpacked it - shortest visit anyone has had at my house! It's going back in the box.
Summary: Previous experience with Finis products has been excellent. Very disappointed in the Lap Track. Found the instructions very difficult to understand. Only using one or two features because of difficulty figuring our instructions.(never have figured out if you can turn the unit off when not in use!) I would not purchase the Lap Track if I had a do over.
Summary: I love this product, and have used the timer in multiple pools. The attachements make it easy to use for any pool. I don't know if they changed the instructions or other people have trouble reading. However, the instructions were easy to follow and I was set up and ready to go in minutes. While traing for a indoor triathalon it is great not having to count the number of laps I have gone in 15 or 20 minutes.
Summary: I'm always forgetting how many laps I've swum and thought that this would be a good device to count laps. Despite the controls not making sense - hitting stop and then reset does not necessarily do either - I suffered through the winter months last year with it. I found that not only did the controls or the instructions make sense - and you can locate them on line - the push mechanism for the counter was hit or miss.
Summary: I have used the Finis Lap Track for about 3 years now. I swim 1.1 miles or more twice per week. This works well to count your laps and record lap time. I find the counter is easy to read from 10 feet or closer, unless my goggles fog up. If you are coordinated, you can tap the counter while doing a flip turn. The instructions are not real clear, but to use this as a simple lap counter is pretty intuitive.
