Summary: This is my second WD my book, I decided to upgrade my old external hard drive since it was getting old (I've had it for 6 years). This hard drive works exactly as described and I've had no issues at all with it. I'd recommend this hard drive to anyone who needs some extra space and doesn't want to spend a ton of money.
Summary: I had to buy an external hard drive last minute because I was shooting a three day film school project. Being new to externals, on the surface, WD's black shine and blue power light sleekness sold me to it. I bought this two years ago and still been editing with Adobe Premier CS4 on my below average speed PC. Not to mention editing from WD's simple USB wire with huge 1 gig HD video clips left and right.
Summary: I remember getting this hard drive at a Staples Black Friday sale two years ago for $70 new. At the time, I needed to delete my old videos to save space on my old 50 GB internal desktop hard drive. I wanted to save them, as well as all of my other documents, so the 640 GB hard drive was a great deal for me. Once I got it and took it home, it installed very quickly. I was able to transfer all of my files into it as a backup, and I even helped back up my parents' files.
Summary: I bought this item over a year and a half ago with a fair bit of trepidation given my previous experience with external drives and a number of less-than-complimentary comments here on Amazon. I took the plunge because I needed the storage space and because of all the choices, this one appeared from user reviews to be my best option.
