Excerpt: I use this external hard drive for storing my photography. I pull files from it and save files to it quite frequently, it is fast and is ready to use when you plug it in. The USB 3.0 connection is fast! So far so good, I would highly recommend any of the WD Portable hard drives.
Pros: Attractive Design, Compact, Easy To Set Up, Easy to use, Portable, Quiet
Summary: I like this portable HDD. It's Super fast and there is more than enough space on this beast of a drive. It is simply a portable hard drive that gets the job done right. I use it to back up my PC. I personally like to keep a back up of my digital life in a fire safe just in case. I also own a WD 160GB portable HDD that is 6 years old and still in working order. Thing is I ran out of space on that HDD about a month ago given the fact that my capacity needs have changed.
Summary: My experience with this small and practical WD Elements external disk drive is that I have to wonder what is going to happen this time. I've been using an assortment of external drives for several years now, including WD, Corsair, Transcend, Seagate and also a wonderful Iomega that is now unfortunately out of production. I have never experienced problems with any of them until I started using this WD Elements with USB 3.0.
Summary: it's small which makes it perfect for travelling with a laptop or tablet. it literally fits in the palm of my hand. installation is easy. plug it into your usb port and wait for the auto-run to start. i didn't use the free back-up trial software that comes with it. it's unnecessary. it has about 465 gb out the box. i assume the missing storage is used for the drive software. the speeds vary but i have a slow internet connection.
