Summary: The Passport Edge: so small, it can fit in a pocket. No external power supply is necessary, it is powered through the USB port, so only one cable is needed. The cable supplied is very short but serves its purpose. SETUP After plugging the Edge in and installing the software located on the hard drive, I was up and running . . . until it fell asleep. It sleeps after 30 minutes, which seems to be the default mode.
Summary: Having experimented with both the version for Mac and this one for the PC, I can honestly report that these WD Edge products far surpass most all others in the portable hard-drive market. The WD Edge is smaller and sleeker than my other WD and Seagate hard drives. It easily fits in a jacket pocket and practically vanishes in a standard handbag. Very nice. Next, I copied one entire hard drive to this WD hard drive.
Summary: I'm so used to reformatting my hard drives upon arrival that I must have missed the encryption software on a My Passport (non-Edge) that I already possess. I thought the encryption was the selling point for this, so I tested it and it works quite well. In fact, once you install that portion of the software on one computer and set up your drive, you can access the drive from another computer with your password because a virtual CD drive will appear that allows you to...
Summary: This is a great hard drive. It transfers fast, looks nice and sleek and works when it's supposed to. I haven't lost any files as of yet! One thing I like about this that I didn't about a previous hard drive was the cable connector. My older hard drive had a loose cable connector and that was a huge complaint in all the reviews. This one stays nice and snug when it's connected to the computer. I don't use the software...just drag and drop.
Excellent performance, light and good looking... what else could one ask for?

Summary: I ordered this drive as a replacement of a 320g Toshiba drive I had been using for a little over a year; since this was the drive I used for my music and videos (things I am not comfortable storing in the hard drive of the computer at work) I was quickly running out of space. The first thing I noted when I opened it was how light and good looking this unit is. Designed in a similar fashion to the 2TB drives, it now has a matte finish, which in silver looks quite well.
Summary: This item is great. Along with its size, it has has a stylish look, ease of use, and instructions inside the device that tell you how to set it up. Granted, in a perfect world devices would still give me readable instructions when I open the package, but housing it on the device not only gives you the ability to plug it up and go, you can also set it up and allow it to run right away.
The "Smallest" Portable Hard Drive I have Ever Owned

Summary: This Western Digital My Passport Edge Portable Hard Drive (WDBK6Z5000ATT-NESN) , like all Western Digital Portable External Hard Drives I have owned (and I own over a dozen of them), is a superb one and has the distinction of being the smallest (ONLY in terms of physical size) and lightest (in weight) one I have ever owned. While it is the same length and width of my other WD My Passports, it is about 1/3 thinner. Its weight difference from them is noticeable.
Summary: Western Digital must have a whole new crop of designers. All of WD's new products are beautiful and compact, worthy for the road warriors. This drive is so slim, about the thickness of my iPhone and barely larger than, well .. the iPhone. This drive's guarantee not to add any bulk to your brief case and hold 500GB of data. I don't have a USB 3.0 port to test it, but the USB 2.x compatible is pretty fast.
Summary: The Western Digital My Passport is a competitor for the Seagate Slim Portable Hard Drive. Both are available in a few sizes, and both support USB 3.0. I also have both. Here's my take: either one is easily recognized by Windows 7. Speed on a two-year-old laptop is equivalent. Size for storage or desk space is close enough that these two are clones. The Western Digital as a hard drive is a good product.
