Summary: Outstanding portable hard drive. I bought a Lacie 500 MB drive in 2009. It's fairly large, heavy, and not at all portable. Also couldn't secure the data. I was shocked out how small this WD drive is.
Summary: Very light and very handy. After a lil research, I found out this is the lightest in its domain and within my budget of $70. Have all my documents, movies, music and pictures in it. Got 1 TB since I kinda conserve on saving stuff.
Summary: Great hard drive. I very much recommend it if your looking for a sleek, compact, and durable hard drive. WD is a great brand in the business, but this drive still surprised me - go for the slim, you wont regret it.
Summary: I tried to use this in my Windows 8 PC. The PC never found the drive. Yes, I tried every single piece of advice on this and other sites. (I'm a Microsoft Certified Professional, by the way. I tried even the most technical approaches.) Tried it on my Windows 8.1 PC. PC never found the drive.
Summary: Have had it for just two weeks or so. Ordered it primarily for my Microsoft Surface Pro which has only 128 GB for storage. It was immediately recognized by the Surface and my Win 7 desktop as well after it was plugged in to the USB port. It IS compact and quiet and runs cool.
Summary: This is based off my initial experiences with the drive and might be updated as time goes along. That being said, this is a great hard drive. I bought the 1 TB version to replace a 500 GB USB HDD by another brand that was starting to act shaky as the sea. Out of the box, this drive feels very solid.
Summary: This is my fourth WD 1TB Passport (I now have one of every color). Although I do use a 500 GB one to back up my computers, I use these for storing movies, old radio shows and music, plus TV series and shows.
