Excerpt: I use the WD to backup my important files. It is not easy to find your files on the WD. For example, you will not see C/ drive backup but must work through a tree of WD file names starting first with WD SmartWare.swstor. I wished they had included this in the instructions. It seems to backup quickly.
Summary: I have had the 1TB My Book, the 2TB and now this 3TB. All have worked flawlessly. I have had this 3TB for about 6 months and it works great. I recommended it to a friend and looked up a link for her and noticed the reviews, including some negative ones. The one currently on top of the pile just didn't seem like it could be possibly true and so this is why I am adding my review.
Summary: Unfortunately, device failed after a couple months. WD customer service offered a repair, so I sent it out (back up drive). They either lost it or forgot--didn't get it back after a month, called and WD said, "can we send you another drive?" Yes, fine. so, they sent another drive and that one has worked fine since. I believe they have a great product and that it was just a fluke that the one I got quit.
Summary: Broke on me within first week, did not get a new one or return it. Awful product dont know how it can brake when its in a case i looked online everywhere for the fix and i guess this just happenes it wont spin the fan or read the disk or the disk wont spin was not happy at all with how this product broke. Its only ever sat on my desk for about 2 months before it just broke. Never got a new one.
