Excerpt: Good value. 2TB of backup at a reasonable price. The Acronis software installed easily and had my system backed up in about 3 hours with USB2 connection. Can't comment on the restore function, hope I'll never need it.
Excerpt: I love this external hard drive. I was in need of more memory for my laptop since I am a work-from-home freelance graphic designer. After looking around at reviews and prices I decided that this hard drive was the best quality for the best price. It is very fast and efficient.
Excerpt: I bought this for Mac. Formatted it and it's really nice. One nice feature is once you un-mount it from the desktop it turns itself off. Unlike the 4tb g drove I recently bought this seems to be runnuing smoother and hasn't locked up my machine once like the g drive has. I'm totally switching.
Excerpt: Went to WD wed site to download utilities. It stated the backup software is not offered on this model. But the description and box show backup software is included. Drive is quiet, had it for two weeks, so far so good.
Excerpt: The drive still goes into an idle state when you haven't used it for awhile. This is a real pain if you choose not to install their software. The price is good but this feature needs to be removed from future drives and if you want this feature you should have the option to install it not them...
Summary: I've not used the backup software and have only copied / saved all the files I wanted. I'm hoping to backup my laptop without their software because I want to remove the files such as their SW to leave more room. And why I gave it only 4*s. - I guess I'm too used to my other ext.
Summary: I got this 3TB HD as a Time Machine backup for my iMac. While I am Mac Saavy, this unit, and my iMac asked me if I wanted to use this disk as a TimeMachine backup. I said yes and it took care of the rest. I had to do NOTHING else. Reliable disk, too. Thanks for a GREAT deal.
Summary: I probably wouldn't pay for one at full price, but the thing is still helpful to have. I might buy another one if it was a bit south of $100.
Pros: The thing is huge and I got it on sale for pretty cheap (~ $130). The USB 3 was certainly nice to have as well.
Cons: I can't say I'm too happy with it after all this time. It feels extremely slow. It also occasionally disconnects and quickly reconnects which has caused more than one file transfer to fail for me.
Summary: I purchased this so I could upgrade my hard drives to SSD drives in two computers. I figured with 4 TB I would have lots of room to back up both computers. After I got done loading all the WD software on my laptop I was ready to do a back up of the disk so I could put in the new SSD and restore it.
