Summary: There is an software package you have to install that was a pain! It took up a lot of space and when ejecting the drive it was always a problem. I had to eject and then turn the drive off, an unnecessary step!
Summary: I have been buying this brand of external drive for my macs for years. I have one that is 250 gig that is several years old and I've dropped it a few times. Still works great. I've never had one die (I know, "knock on wood").
Summary: The came in a plain brown box without any packing, documentation or anything. The only thing that came along was a 18" long firewire cable. The WD software I have already installed (for external drive diagnostics) didn't even recognize this and I'm guessing that the hard disk inside isn't genuine. I'm already away from the US and won't be able to return it, but thankfully it's working as a basic hard disk, so it's not a total loss.
