Summary: This is an excellent product from Western Digital. I like the style. I have three daisy chained through firewire. All together their about as loud a a cheap USB fax, which is to say, not very. If you use to a totally silent environment this may be something that you need to consider, if they'll be located close to your seating area like mine are. A has been noted in other reviews about the product, the unit will to sleep if it has been ideal for a long period.
Summary: I bought this as I rapidly filled up my 2 TB WD hard drive when decided to burn all of my DVD's so I can watch them on my Apple TV. The hard drive is a simple plug and play device. Additionally, the previoulsy mentioned 2 TB hard drive daisy chains into the back of this one. I keep my iTunes Library on the 2 TB and the movie/TV show library and home movie library on the 6 TB.
Summary: I bought this HD as I have 21.5 inch iMac with USB2/FireWire interface. This HD does its job perfectly, not loud, nice looking. I would recommend to buy it if you need something big (6 TB) and you have only USB2/FireWire Interfaces. S.K.
Summary: My Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 2TB drive that I was using as an automatic backup is beginning to fail, and is the second of the same drive to give problems in only a year (I bought a pair of them a little under a year ago, and the first died after 5 months). I decided to try a Raid 1 drive for some redundancy and data safety.
Wanted a lot of "fast disk" on the cheap. This is it.

Summary: I'm not going to waste your time with technical content. Just what I wanted to acheive and how this drive help satisfy that need. What I wanted: A lot of disk space, for use with a workstation class notebook for Virtual Machine hosting. I have an i7 notebook with 32GB of RAM for use with VMWare virtualization. I wanted an external disk storage that had high throughput, but still be an economical solution because I was paying for it, not my employer.
Summary: Quick delivery. Showed up a week ahead. Perfect setup. Had to download latest software from WD's site, but no problems. Already formatted HD RAID-0. Connected via FW800. Started transfer from current setup 1.75TB of Photographs & Multimedia files. Took over night since coming in via USB2.0 from older drives. Once transfer completed, fired up Lightroom & FW 800 is blazingly fast. Life is so much better now having 180K images library to manage and navigated.
