Summary: This is an excellent product from Western Digital. I like the style. I have three daisy chained through firewire. All together their about as loud a a cheap USB fax, which is to say, not very.
Summary: Using the eSATA port it is a very fast extternal drive for my laptop. In my studio I am doing video and sound recording. Each file is in gigabytes which takes a long time to move and edit using USB or WiFi.
Probably outdated by now, but for me it was a good deal.

Summary: this thing is baller. kinda hard to setup but baller. there are probably better usb 4.0 versions by now so see if you can find ones like that. if you are a parent and getting this for your kid or students in your house make sure the Mac they have will support the external hard drive or can at least...
Summary: I have this unit set up in a RAID O configuration and it performs great as a network storage. Since I use it wirelessly, it does not run as fast as when I had it hooked up to my firewire 800, but it is just what I needed for network storage.
Summary: I needed a solution for my home movie/TV show/music/podcast server and this thing is it. At 4 TB I have yet to run out of space on it and the firewire connection is perfect to keep it moving over my WiFi network.
