Excerpt: Since loading the "SmartWare" software, my laptop has gone into super slow performance. It has also caused so many issues that I have Uninstalled all software, and plan to return this purchase. For such a well known company, you would assume that Western Digital would have better software. Do NOT buy this product.
Excerpt: WD My Passport USB 3.0 1TB drives are compact and make good portable backup and additional storage drives for laptops. Have bought 4 of these now and have not had any issues with them, great product for the price.
Excerpt: Works perfectly. Gets its power from the USB port, so no separate power cable is needed. Small and light. In pictures, the case looks like it is a black metallic mesh, but in fact it is a solid plastic case with a pattern design that looks like a metallic mesh. Not a big deal, but be aware of this. Pre-formatted for PC. For my Mac, I just re-formatted the drive using my Mac's Disk Utility app (found in the Utilities folder which is inside the Applications folder).
Excerpt: I love this portable hard drive. My company provided me with one when I went to Romania in August so I could carry all the project data with me. Now, I have bought one for myself to keep all my school work with me at all times.
Excerpt: The only thing I can say is that when I hooked up the hard drive to my laptop, it only showed abou 93 GB of info available and not 1TB. I would have appreciated not having less than what I thought I was purchasing. So far everything else seems to be working fine.
