Excerpt: The MPE would have been a solid, handy hard drive had the backup software wasn’t pushy. I could do without a partitioned hard drive, and its contents should be more transparent. It’s reasonably priced at 80 dollars, but I don’t recommend it. Don’t be irrevocably deterred, however, by my opinions. With a lot of sleuthing online, it’s possible to revert the hard drive into a simple storage tank. But for the unyielding backup system, I’ll shake my head to that.
Summary: I always needed to have multiple copies of programs on external hard drives to use on many computers , now I can use 1 copy anywhere on my home network , best off I can retrieve my data away from home on my personal devices and laptop . It couldn't be easier . It mentions a disc but it is an on line download from WD , it was painless to install and after about 2 months I can't complain It is doing its job nicely .
Pros: Everything I need can be retrieved at home and away safely
Summary: The WD-3TB My Book Live was easy to install and set up. However the My Cloud does not connect with iTunes and the media player only provides the minimum features. The WD-3TB works well as a NAS, and can be easily set up as an network drive and used for additional storage for a PC. As an external drive it can be used to store the iTunes library.
Summary: I wanted this My Book Live Personal Cloud Storage Home Network Drive to use while away from home to watch my pre-recorded TV shows and movies that I had convereted and stored on it. I got a chance to use it this week and it works just how it should. I was able to watch my TV show on my laptop, my iPad and also my iPhone. There was a slight upload time, but the shows played just fine. This way I don't have to take a hard drive with me.
Summary: System was quick and easy to set up. I had 600 MBabd it was not as quick moving from PC to the drive. The speed was good for iTunes and for pulling photos. The iPhone app is great to upload or recall any file quickly with wifi access. Cellular only data was slow 3G.
Pros: Easy to backup and have one place for all music an photos, and keep PC and Mac HD space freed up.
