Summary: I am not a technically savvy consumer (can't comment on all tech nuances) - just needed a portable hard drive to back up my work. A network administrator manager at work recommended this model/version - I trusted his opinion! This Passport- does its job.
Summary: Perfect little drive. I use it to backup the important data from my server at work. It is compact, fast, and reliable. I can secure the drive with the software that comes with it. Comes with a short USB cable. I like this drive. 500GB is not the biggest, but it more than satisfies what I need.

Summary: This is an AWESOME external hard drive. That's all you need to know. You won't regret buying it. The best feature is that it can be partitioned to be used between Apple or PC. You can also decide how much of a percentage of it you want to partition to either.
