Summary: Thin, light weight and durable. The drive read/write speeds are a bit slow through USB but otherwise the drive is great as a light weight portable HDD. Only problem is that it uses a rather unique USB cable. Have been using this device for at least 2 years now.
Summary: This is my 2nd WD My Passport 500gb hard drive. The first one I bought a few years earlier, I actually liked better. The shape and finish were a bit better, and the old one used a standard mini USB cable. This one has some bizarre cable end I've never seen before, so good luck if you lose the cable.
Summary: I bought this hard drive for my brother over 2 years ago and it's worked like a charm - never any problems. It's reliable, light, portable and perfect for students who are always on the go. Western Digital makes quality hard drives and this one is right on par with the rest of their products.
Summary: My husband purchased two of these, one for us and his Brother. It has been working out Great so far. Sure has taken the weight off our hard drive. I can't wait to see how it transfers to a laptop.
Summary: I bought this device in order to store coaching tape for football coaching. I wanted to clear space on my computer and still be able to access the games easily. This item shipped quickly and was easy to open; it didn't come in one of those irritating anti-theft packages.
Summary: A note for people needing a complete data backup...the software will not recognize or backup .exe or any system files. You can manually drag/drop these to the drive letter..I am told by WD support. I will attempt that at this time.
Summary: I bought this to have a drive to transfer things easily from Macs to PCs. Only initial trouble was figuring out how to NOT have it automatically be set to be the Mac's TimeCapsule, etc. Once I figured out how to format it, it's be perfect. I just wish that first part was a little more intuitive.
Summary: I purchased this external hard drive to replace one that stopped working. Yes, WD does take them back and I hope to get a repaired one for a replacement. I'm not sure what happened to the original drive but have heard that they are EXTREMELY sensitive to movement.
