Summary: Purchased this to backup my music inventory on my Macbook. Works like a charm. I have had no issues with this and its compatibility with Apple software. Huge amount of storage space and good price. Would highly recommend!
Summary: I have and older WD passport that I have use for quite a few years. I had good luck with mine, so this one was a Christmas gift to someone else. Beings I never used this since it was a gift, I gave it 4 stars.
Summary: The passport elites were only manufactured for a few years, but because of the cradle that comes with them I find them more convenient to use between multiple people. It does exactly what it is suppose to do and it does it with easy to view status level and offers easy to use password security as well.

Summary: I bought one of these because a photography teacher said that an external hard drive was the safe way to store all my photos. It has crashed twice and I've lost ALL of my pictures! Don't waste your money! I'll never buy another WD product again!
Summary: I love my digital passport Elite 500 GB. I know that most people need more storage space than I do but this is the perfect size for my needs. It is as small as a passport and thus fits on the shelf right above my computer. Western Digital is a great brand. I was concerned about how to actually perform the back up, but the device walked me right through it. If I can use it, anyone can.
Summary: I loved this product, until it stopped working. When I did some research, this is very common for this product. When you call customer service they will ask if you backed it up. So you have to back-up your back-up? Do not use this product to hold any important data that you will want later. One day it will just crash and you will lose it all. To retrieve data from this device will be several thousand dollars because of the security features in it.
Summary: I have a Western Digital external drive that I have been using to back up my main laptop. Sadly it became full and I needed a bigger hard drive to back up my data. My previous hard drive was only 250 GB. I was more than happy to double the size of it. Plugging in the WD 500 GB drive Windows automatically lets you know it "Found New Hardware". I hit locate and installed the driver and it installed the driver. Once it was installed, I then proceeded to back up my laptop.
Summary: this has to be the worst ehd i have ever owned. it has to have some sort of priority software loaded to even see this piece of junk. i have a little lacie 500MB that is plug and play and it blow this away. stay far, far away from this drive.
