Summary: This drive came formatted for Mac and when I plugged it into my MacBook it came right up. I've been using it as a Time Machine backup for the last couple months and have had no issues with it at all. It's whisper quiet and it does the job. You can't ask for more than that in a little hard drive like this.
Summary: Using a MacBook with OS 10.5.8... Light, thin, easy to use, powered through the USB, set up ready-to-go for Macs, and lots of space (500 GB). The Western Digital My Passport Edge for Mac Portable Hard Drive is as good as it gets. It also works with Time Machine for regular backups. What else do you need, or want, in a portable hard drive?
Great for storing my daughter's media files for college and personal stuff. .

Summary: Western Digital My Passport Edge for Mac is a wonderful product. I'd hate to have my daughter lose all of her files. Better safe than sorry, right? Pros: 500GB storage (adequate for most people) Quick setup and easy directions--plug and play simple Very fast data transfer with USB 3.0. I was surprised at how fast we transferred all of her movies, songs, videos, projects, etc.
Summary: My Mac usage is limited since we primarily use PC laptops for personal and home-office use. That said, I did want an external drive to back up the hard drive of the Mac desktop I use (and make available to guests in our apartment). We also wanted a device we could use when working with clients who use Macs and where we need to download from other Macs and keep for home-office use. This model meets both of those needs.
Summary: This is a great hard drive. It transfers fast, looks nice and sleek and works when it's supposed to. I haven't lost any files as of yet! One thing I like about this that I didn't about a previous hard drive was the cable connector. My older hard drive had a loose cable connector and that was a huge complaint in all the reviews. This one stays nice and snug when it's connected to the computer. I don't use the software...just drag and drop.
