Summary: The most critical feature of any drive is reliability. A drive that isn't reliable is worthless. The drive itself might be OK, but the USB connector is ultra-ultra-cheap & started disconnecting for no reason, even though I haven't touched it since I installed it.
Summary: It was OK, and worked great for a good while, but had to be reformatted after about 9 months. It is nice to be able to carry data with you. However I wanted an emergency boot and backup for Mac. Although it worked well for awhile, downloading everything, reformatting and reloading was a pain.
Pros: I just wanted all to know I purchased three of these, re-formatted from MAC to NTFS and all three are working fine, no failures, odd noises, et cetera. . As I only had these for a week, I can not vouch for long term usage. . It was at a great price, $ 29.99 each. Heavy and seemingly well construc...
Cons: None, except I should have purchased more :-)
Summary: I stand by my original review. A drive that refuses to mount while emitting noticeable clicking noises is obviously defective. WD's response implied that maybe the clicking sound is normal, which it is definitely not, and clearly should have been picked-up during the "refurbishment" process. FYI.
Summary: Remember that this drive is formatted for a MAC and can't be used on a PC until it is reformatted. Maybe this help some people from giving bad reviews on this drive.
Pros: This drive is great for storage and for doing backups and for the price its a good deal. The case is made from aluminium and not cheap plastics. I have 2 of these drives 1 for the PC and 1 for the MAC and thinking about getting another one. I have purchased 2 of these and haven't had any problems.
