Designed for Mac and compatible with Apple® TimeMachine™, the Western Digital My Book Studio external drive features a customizable e-label, automatic, visual backup, and password protection. The FireWire 800 interface gives users the speed required for creative endeavors like photo and video editing and graphic design. Users can save and access data at top speeds with the high-performance FireWire 800 interface. They can also help users create their own label to remind them of what’s stored on the drive. The unit comes with WD SmartWare software which provides users with a visual control center with a single screen view of all their data where they can back up, retrieve, and secure files. It also has features that let users bring back lost files and retrieve valuable data to its original location (whether they’ve lost all data or just overwritten an important file). Other features on the My Book Studio includes password protection and 256-bit hardware-based encryption, energy saving design with WD GreenPower Technology™ which lowers internal drive power consumption by up to 30%, a sleep mode reduces power during idle times, and a power-saving feature turns the drive on and off with the computer.
