Damaged Out of the Box

Summary: The order was fulfilled by 'The-Edeals' and arrived damaged out of the box. It appears the unit was dropped or thrown, and the internal chassis was shifted from the external shell. The power button was depressed and stuck under the case, and remaining ports were not aligned with the openings.
Summary: I don't like the included WD proprietary software. I gave it a try and it was quite limiting so I wiped/partitioned the drive to meet my own needs. After partitioning I then did a firmware update, which as soon as it was completed, killed the drive DEAD...DEAD...DEAD.
Summary: I chose this product because of Western Digital great name and customer review's, price and design quality. So far to date it works but I have lots of problem with setting up the screen. Word of advise (DON'T PURCHASE THAT HARD DRIVE).
Summary: Bought this drive and set it up without any trouble. For 8 months backups occurred without any trouble over Firewire 800 from my MacBook Pro. First it stopped wanting to eject, then it would freeze while backing up, and finally it stopped mounting all together.
Summary: Had problems with device powering on. I believe the metal enclosure causes the power supply to short out when connecting it. Had this problem on two separate drives. Poor experience with WD tech support. Also, read / write performance is marginal.
Summary: When it worked it worked just fine. Began powering down without warning after about a month and eventually would not power on any more. Still covered by warranty but I get the pleasure of paying to ship it back to the manufacturer.
Summary: This is the second Western Digital network drive I have purchased. Two years ago I purchased a 2TB of the same drive. The good on both drives is cost: $/byte is low. You get a lot of storage for the money. The bad is very, very slow write speeds.
Summary: As the owner of a WD 1TB My Book Studio, I was quick to purchase another WD product. Unfortunately, the Virtual CD pre-installed on this drive failed to mount on my iMac, despite troubleshooting with the manufacturer and updating the drives firmware.
