Summary: I usually buy western digital for my hard drives, but never again will I get an external drive from them, because I've heard similar issues with other people who have gotten MyBooks.
Pros: Holds data.... If you can access it.
Cons: One of the worst pieces of hardware that I've ever had. Randomly prevents my computer from shutting down. (solution: Unplug.) Randomly prevents my computer from starting up. Sometimes reads, sometimes doesn't.
Summary: 1. Backup software. There are numerous Backup software solutions for PCs. Summary: I'm never buying WD again, they're unreliable.
Pros: It does what it's supposed to.
Cons: It is always on. I hold the power button till it stops, let it sit for an hour, and it still produces heat. I need to plug it directly into the wall instead of a power strip. If the power is interrupted it goes into some sort of lockdown mode and won't mount.
Cons: Our computer was crashing, so we downloaded everything on the hard drive and unplugged it from the computer. After erasing everything off of our main computer we plugged in the HD and it didn't work. We were later told that this is a common issue with Western Digital. If you just unplug the HD fr...
