  • Excerpt: Huge problem with using USB2. No matter which intel based motherboard I plug them into, these drives stop the computer from booting up (even though the BIOS has been told to boot up from the internal drive). So either I have to reboot a few times, or I have to unplug during POST, and then...

  • Summary: Rapid shipping surprised me. I bought this for my son, and he really likes it. At first, he had difficulty having the computer recognize the drive and had to download the manual. But soon he figured out he needed to make sure the power cord and firewire cord were plugged in securely, and then it worked like a charm.

  • Excerpt: Being new to Apple computers (I purchased a 2nd gen iMac in March 2009) I was determined to make use of Time Machine for the purpose of backing up my new iMac. Backing up my Windows driven laptop and PC were always a bit more complicated due to the lack of solid and useful backup software...

Great product with buggy software

  • Summary: I received my 1TB external HDD about two weeks ago. within the last two days or so the software has been giving me nothing but trouble, saying it is not working correctly or that there is an issue with backups. I decided this was most likely either a problem with immediate termination of the connection, which shouldn't be a problem on a hot swappable drive, or the software was not written to be compatible with Windows Vista.

  • Summary: Good product. I already owned one, and it works great, and needed another one. This was a great deal and works great so far after about a month. I've owned my other one for about a year and no problems.

  • Pros: Nothing. It wasted my time and gas money driving to purchase it.
  • Cons: Simply put, it just does not work.

Okay, with some patience

Overstock

  • Summary: I brought this refurbished, so basically "you get what you paid for." The inputs in the back were not properly installed, as some ports were being blocked by the outer case of the hard drive. This sets the whole system off as certain things are not properly aligned. For example, the power on button has an issue as it needs you to constantly play with it to get it to turn on. To be fair, when hard drive work, its a great steal.
