Western Digital Hard Drive for Mac
10 July 2014
Summary: The WD hard drive is perfect, I bought it refurbished but it has worked fine with no issues whatsoever. I would highly recommend this hard drive to any Mac user out there because this device has been flawless for me.
Excerpt: I use this external storage device as the primary storage location for all of my large photographic files (mostly .PSD, .NEF, and .JPEG). I was maxing out the space on my iMac and this item has relieved the constraints that the storage issue placed on the performance of my iMac. <br />The item was very easy to install and it took only a few hours to transfer all of my files.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Set Up, Easy to use, High Capacity
Summary: arrived on time I use this for "time Machine" the old 1Tb version I had was a little noisy and I did not want to risk it any longer but it was around 6/7 years old and as I have up graded my Mac to 2Tb my time machine backup needs to be 2Tb Goodness only knows what I would have done without Time Machine when the hard drive in my computer failed.
Summary: I had already purchased the 1TB, which has been reliable. There is no reason to think that this will not offer equal performance. Well packaged on arrival; out of the box and connected by USB; no disc installation, storage commenced.
Summary: I needed a large external drive to store my ever growing collection of digital photographs which, being taken as RAW files, take up an awful lot of room. I have two other WD My Book drives for use with Windows 7 which have always worked well so when I needed a drive for my Mac computer I decided on this one. It worked immediately on connection and works well at an acceptable speed. I have no need for a password so I haven't used this facility.
Summary: I have had my drive 1 week, did a full back-up, using Time Machine (not the WD Smartware), but cannot get additional back-ups to work consistently. Often the WD drive is not recognised and I have to reconnect it to my iMac for a new back-up to take place. Fault reported to WD 2 days ago but only an acknowledgement received. Discovered on the WD website* today there is a problem of data loss on the drive with Maverick OS and they are working to resolve it.
