Summary: easy to set up and use, sits comfortably on top of my home desk top pc and I can take it with me and plug into another pc at work without any hassle, if you need a large capacity external hard drive this is ideal.
Summary: My second purchase works for me ...last in stock ...thanks...delivery very quick...Notice a lot of people not happy with on off switch position ...but for me its fine for my 1000s of photographs ..
Summary: I've been using this now for nearly a year and it sits in the corner and does what it's told! It's fairly quiet and does the job. Apparently the light on the front will go red when a hard drive has failed, which is handy because otherwise you'd never know. No hard drive failures to date, very pleased with it. There's a switch on the back to pick a raid/non-raid setting, and you don't need any software to run it.
Summary: A great piece of kit, ideal for backing up system files, movies etc. Very easy to use and comes complete with back up software and a suspend mode. This mode is very important as my pc, running Win 7 Ultimate, can take for ever to read the hd. I think it's better to only turn the drive on when you need to use it and not leave it running in the background. Other than that a 1st class piece of hardware.
Summary: Verbatim 1TB USB2 External Drive - great drive, quiet in operation, does all you would expect an external drive to do. others have complained about the power switch button. I find it is no problem - just make sure you hold the button in for two or three seconds until the drive spins up. If you just jab it with your finger, it does not switch on as the drive hasn't had time to spin.
Summary: Having used various external drives, drive docks and a Synology NAS box, I can say that I'm impressed with every aspect of this drive. It has very good build quality and looks quite at home next to the PS3 in the TV cabinet. I wanted a drive that could be formatted as FAT32, FAT32ex or NTFS rather than the various custom file systems that Linux based NAS boxes employ, and that's what it is. It just worked out of the box.
