DOA 2 of 2.

Michael W., Newegg
17 February 2011
  • Summary: I had to pay shipping back and forth for two verbatim drives that failed to function, as well as a restocking fee, totaling $35, which I paid for nothing. I will never again purchase from Verbatim, and I'm reconsidering Newegg.
  • Pros: It looked good, came with all the cables I might need, and a little carrying case. I was initially impressed.
  • Cons: Drive was almost DOA. I was able to almost complete a Time Machine backup when it failed to continue to function. No amount of formatting resurrected it on my MacBook running 10.6.6 or my Power Mac G5 running 10.5.8. I returned this drive, which was received as an exchange of an identical item. I...

Superb portable drive

Micheal L., Newegg
20 January 2011
  • Summary: This drive has interfaces to USB2 and Firewire 400/800. It even comes with cables in the box, including the elusive Firewire 800 cable, as well as an aux power connector to USB for older systems with puny USB power capacity.
  • Pros: Fast, quiet, all cables supplied, formatted for MacOS
  • Cons: None

User Review

John T., Newegg

  • Summary: even though this drive gets hot, it does cool down fairly quickly, i just wish there was a place where u can grab it and not feel as if it'll burn ur fingers off!
  • Pros: firewire 800 is essential to my work as an editor, so transfering media among tower to tower/tower to laptop is quick with this interface. something as small and portable as this is great which compares nicely to my g-drive mini
  • Cons: the entire enclosure gets really hot while on.
