Cable keeps falling out
21 June 2014
Summary: The cable/connection into the drive case falls out constantly. I keep getting the "improperly ejected" warning. What good is a durable drive is the cable falls out? And, this vendor is out of stock so I can't even replace it. Its completely useless to me with my laptop, it disconnects whenever its moved.
Summary: Cons: A simple copying of a massive file as well as the CristalDiskMark tool indicate 39mb/sec for this drive. No more. Very disappointed, because I wanted to use this drive not just as a backup storage. The software that come with this drive doesn't make things better. Pros: it works. I hope it will work well as a simple backup storage. Otherwise it is just a waste of money.
Summary: Highly disappointed in this product. Its ruggedness is overrated. I've had this device for 6 months and today it just failed. It makes a chug, chug, chug sound then fails to be recognized by the Mac or Windows computer. My advice, back it up and don't rely on its rugged quality. Reugged does not equal reliability. I am extra saddened because I've bought two other Transcend StoreJets due to their high capacity and low cost. I may just have 2 other lemonds. Keep shopping!
Tech Support Never Responded! although Product is Very Good so far.

Summary: I bought this drive last May to keep a Backup of my hard drive. The primary reason I purchased it was because it was shock-proof and wanted to keep my data safe. PROS: 1. It has a nice "heavy duty" construction without being bulky 2. It also has a nice grip and feel because of the rubber material on outside which also won't let it slide easily on the table surface preventing it from falling. 3. Very quiet 4. Very fast connection using USB 3.0. CONS: 1.
Excerpt: Worked fine until this month when it starting dismounting on its own. Now it refuses to mount at all, I can feel the drive spinning, but never mounts. Tried on 3 computers just in case it was a dead port issue, but same result. Guess it is time to contact the manufacturer for a return/replacement.
Summary: I am disappointed with this hard drive. Seems like it's well built and could take some knocking but the transfer rate is extremely slow for a USB 3.0 device. Same computer, same USB port a WD Elements USB 3.0 achieves transfer rates of 80-90 mb/s whereas this one goes around 10-15mb/s. Unfortunately I am going on holiday so I have no time to send it back but will definitely do when I am back.
Excerpt: I bought it only a 5 months back and it started slowing down. The transfer speed(both read and write)is as good as mentioned in specifications, but opening of folder or refreshing the window is taking a lag in time. Initially it used to fast, but now I fed up with this piece.
Summary: Unfortunately the software did not work ... kept stopping during a backup.. I really hope that this was a 'one-off' issue. First time I have bought a Transcend item ... I think I will stay with the suppliers that I have no problems with.
Summary: Yeah it's feel premium, nice size, 2.5 inch usb powered so no need to fiddle round with external plug or power supply. Transfer speeds were really good as you can expect from usb 3.0 device. The speed will differ depending on the size and type file/ files you are transferring. I had the same issues that other people have mentioned in the review of this product and this is that the connection keep dropping for no apparent reason.
