Transcend StoreJet HD Housing
31 March 2012
Summary: This product was perfect to contain a hard drive from a Mac mini. Easy install; works perfectly. I replaced the factory HD with a SSD and put the removed HD in the Transcend case so it can function as an external drive. A simple and elegant solution to a problem. Now the Mac mini has an extra 500 GB hard drive sitting on top of it to store whatever I want to add to it.
Summary: This is a good little enclosure. It works as expected, runs a little hot, and is really light and compact. It will get the job done if your goal is to reclaim an old 2.5" SATA drive. It isn't a long-term solution because it is cheaply made, and it isn't the prettiest enclosure out there. It is, though, inexpensive and functional.
Summary: Setup took only 3 minutes. Just pulled the screws, slided in the hard disk and put the screws again. Working great since then. The enclosure feels solid and cool and no noise from the hard disk. Another plus side is it looks great!
Summary: This is the second time I buy this product not because the first one break or something like that mostly because the first one was stolen and the because I just removed my MacBook internal HDD and I need a case, this is a great product and the sync app is really great and now is even for Mac what else do you needM;simplicity, easy to use and price.
Summary: Already had one, and just bought two more - one for my daughter, and another one for myself. This is a much more economical way of getting a good external/backup drive for your important files. Additionally, these enclosures are designed to work in conjunction with a free software package that you can download from the manufacturer's site. That software allows you to turn the drive into a one-touch backup device using the button on the front of the enclosure.
Summary: I have purchased several of these over the past few years. They are simple, no-nonsense 2.5 inch HD enclosures that do the job well. With the drive inserted, it feels more solid that several brand-name external HDs that I've owned. They never get warm and the drive is nice and snug inside the enclosure. I've never noticed a drive vibrating while reading or writing either. All in all, it's a solid buy.
Cons: USB connection port broke after ninimal usage. Mfr cited physical damage not covered under warrenty. Only person to use unit was myself - not sure how I caused physical damage by plugging in the USB cable a total of maybe 6 times???
Summary: This is the second Transcend enclosure I purchased (the first one was RED). When I purchase a new computer, I typically put in larger hard drives. Why pay $100 or more to the computer company for a larger hard drive when you can install your own cheaper and have a spare drive for use as a portable drive? If you are prone to doing so, these drive enclosures allow you to reutilize the removed drive.
Summary: I bought this for my transcend Storejet 25M and it is an perfect fit. The little pocket for the cables is helpful and the little slots for small SD cards etc could be useful too. The book increases its ability to be hooked onto backpacks or belts and is very useful. Though the Storejet has shock resisting abilities, a hard case is another wall of protection and the materials on this is very good.
