Excerpt: I just want to share my experience with this harddisk. Well I have high expectation on this one since it come up with "military" grade hype, sadly after 2 months using it for intensive watching movie on it then suddenly it just died. No drop and nothing hurt it in anyway.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy to use, High Capacity, Quiet
Summary: I've wasted more than an hour attempting to register this device. I haven't used it yet, but am not convinced the warranty will be honored. I plan to give Transcend the benefit of the doubt and will try again in the next several days. If successful, I will complete this review.
Summary: Pros: - Sturdy enclosure, without being too bulky - Rubberized outer casing (doesn't slip around on surfaces) - Can be powered with only one USB plug - Fast USB 3.0 transfer speeds Cons: - Sometimes got fairly hot - Enclosure failed after a year and a half I purchased this hard drive at the end of...
Summary: I was attracted to the product by the price. Both were good, in my view. When I received it, I was a little dismayed to learn that I didn't have the right equipment to use it the way the instructions said (I either needed to upgrade to yet a faster UBS or connect the Y Cable, which was NOT...
Summary: The drive came on time and it worked perfectly, but i returned it almost immediately (the same day actually) because the software was a huge pain. I'm using Windows 8.1 and i don't know if that had anything to do with it, but it would not set a "action" to perform, which is required.
Summary: Actual information on the internal drive is located here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152291
Pros: So far so good. The enclosure itself is pretty great. USB 3.0.
Cons: Reliability is supposed to be a major selling point of this drive what with its MIL-STD-810F compliant shock resistance. But that won't do a bit of good for when the drive itself, the suspect SAMSUNG Spinpoint M8 ST1000LM024, fails due to poor design.
Summary: After many frustrating hours trying to get the backup software to work right, I downloaded some generic freeware backup program that worked great. The software's Japanese language help pages were particularly annoying.
Summary: PROS - Y cable included; didn't need the extra power on any of my usb ports - rubber exterior is easy to hold onto CONS - drive suddenly failed after only 1 year of average use This external HDD worked good for about 1 year and then suddenly failed.
Summary: I should have thought out this purchase a little better. Having to use two usb ports is turning out to be a pain. And since Western Digital makes a smaller, larger capacity portable usb 3.0 drive that DOESN'T need two cables (or a power plug), I don't understand this concept.
