Dead after 2 month but Warranty cover it

Zeff, B&H Photo
6 January 2015
  • Excerpt: I just want to share my experience with this harddisk. Well I have high expectation on this one since it come up with "military" grade hype, sadly after 2 months using it for intensive watching movie on it then suddenly it just died. No drop and nothing hurt it in anyway.
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Easy to use, High Capacity, Quiet
  • Cons: Unreliable

Transcend website doesn't allow registration

Dr. Gary H. Strauss, Amazon
21 June 2014
  • Summary: I've wasted more than an hour attempting to register this device. I haven't used it yet, but am not convinced the warranty will be honored. I plan to give Transcend the benefit of the doubt and will try again in the next several days. If successful, I will complete this review.

Good Product, Good Price, questionable software

WASmith1946, Amazon
25 December 2013
  • Summary: I was attracted to the product by the price. Both were good, in my view. When I received it, I was a little dismayed to learn that I didn't have the right equipment to use it the way the instructions said (I either needed to upgrade to yet a faster UBS or connect the Y Cable, which was NOT...

Good, But easy to find better.

Tanner, Amazon
25 December 2013
  • Summary: The drive came on time and it worked perfectly, but i returned it almost immediately (the same day actually) because the software was a huge pain. I'm using Windows 8.1 and i don't know if that had anything to do with it, but it would not set a "action" to perform, which is required.

SAMSUNG Spinpoint M8 ST1000LM024

Daniel B., Newegg
17 December 2013
  • Summary: Actual information on the internal drive is located here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152291
  • Pros: So far so good. The enclosure itself is pretty great. USB 3.0.
  • Cons: Reliability is supposed to be a major selling point of this drive what with its MIL-STD-810F compliant shock resistance. But that won't do a bit of good for when the drive itself, the suspect SAMSUNG Spinpoint M8 ST1000LM024, fails due to poor design.

Great Hardware, Horrible Backup Software

The Amazonian "todd0607", Amazon
30 August 2013
  • Summary: After many frustrating hours trying to get the backup software to work right, I downloaded some generic freeware backup program that worked great. The software's Japanese language help pages were particularly annoying.

Not as friendly to use as I expected.

mattm9y, Amazon
17 April 2011
  • Summary: I should have thought out this purchase a little better. Having to use two usb ports is turning out to be a pain. And since Western Digital makes a smaller, larger capacity portable usb 3.0 drive that DOESN'T need two cables (or a power plug), I don't understand this concept.
