Summary: Works well, I can store plenty of stuff on here and carry it around and use as and when I need it. If I could afford a bigger drive I would have bought a bigger drive but this was spot on for my needs.
Toshiba PX1709E-1HG5 StorE Alu2 2.5 Inch750GB External Black Hard Drive
2 June 2014
Summary: A good enough purchase...? I was able to move a lot of stuff from my laptop using this device, but it feels a little light if i was to be honest..! Not one to be accidently dropped, so be careful when handling it..?? Thanks...
Summary: Got this really cheap in a amazon lightning deal. For the cost of £32.99 it's great. The cable is a bit weird in that it implies that it needs to connect to 2 USB ports...maybe one for data and one for power. But, I've just been connecting the one on my laptop and it seems perfectly happy. Can only assume maybe older devices or maybe hubs won't power it. Does make the cable a bit ungainly. Casing is nice, as it is metal. Has performed fine so far.
No UK 3 pin plug supplied, fitted with European 2 pin plug
26 December 2012
Summary: I had a New Toshiba 3.5" USB Hard Disc Drive 2TB STOR.E ALU 2 as a Christmas Present, purchased through Amazon. When opening the box I was extremely disappointed to discover that it only had a mains adapter fitted with a 2 round pin European type plug instead of a standard UK 3 pin plug.
Summary: Doing exactly what I wanted it to - already used 1TB on video tape back up (60 minute DV High Definition tape takes about 15 minutes but each is 11.2 gb). But what a silly plug. Do Toshiba get any feed back from Amazon sellers? If they do they must be urged to include a British plug adaptor in future.
Summary: Very pleased (eventually) with these drives. Having read reviews on Amazon that these worked out of the box on Macs, I bought 2 to backup my iMac, which I use for work - one on site and one off, swapping once a week. So I was very disappointed to discover that I couldn't use them on the Mac at all, as supplied. The drive icon appeared on the desktop, and I could read the files already on the drives (including the PDF manual), but was unable to write to the drives.
Summary: It was my first external hard drive and I'm shocked at how efficient it is. I was expecting it to come with complicated manuals and CD for installations but it didn't. My younger sibling in the early teens uses it frequently and has never even looked at the manual, that's how easy it's to use, you just have to plug it to the PC. The blue led in front does give it a sophisticated look while the metal looking case seems scratch resistant.
