3 years and still not full

Christopher K., Newegg
9 October 2012
  • Pros: Great, sleek look, easy to use. This was one of the first 1TB hard drives that didn't require external power supply.
  • Cons: None

I really like it

Anna S., Newegg
14 May 2011
  • Pros: Light, easy to use, fits all cases for hard drives. Did a great job during my overseas trip. Even though I was carrying it in my backpack all the time, stick the backpack with it in different luggage compartments, nothing ever happened to it. I owe it for almost a year by now and did not have any...
  • Cons: Fingerprints on a shiny cover

this product does not work

dane b., Newegg
4 December 2010
  • Summary: i am in afghanistan, and since it was shipped to my buddy in the states first 9so he could put some stuff on it for me), it didn't arrive till almost after the 30 days i had to return it.
  • Pros: none.
  • Cons: the piece will work for about 3 uses, then needs to be formatted. of course, formatting it over and over loses all of the files i put on it. which really takes away from the whole purpose of having an external hard drive.

BEWARE

Virginia C., Newegg
1 December 2010
  • Summary: The track record speaks for itself. Even if I just happened to get two bad drives out of a trillion, I can no longer trust these products to serve their intended purpose. Use caution when dealing with this drive!
  • Pros: It is pretty. Toshiba was very quick to replace my broken drive with another drive that broke in a couple of weeks.
  • Cons: 1st drive after a week of use decided that instead of files it only wished to provide me with cyclic redundancy errors. 2nd drive let me sort my music collection for 2 weeks then the contents of my "sorted" folder vanished. Went through all the routine data recovery actions to no avail.

Had to RMA

Vilaphanh S., Newegg
23 November 2010
  • Summary: I had to RMA my unit back to Toshiba. RMA went smoothly & received a replacement 2 weeks later. I am still unsure about its reliability but I would back up any data as you will not be able to retrieve it if it fails on you.
  • Pros: Large capicty, very portable, runs cool, & comes w/ 3 year warranty. My Windows 7 machine recognized it out of the box.
  • Cons: Stopped working after 3 months of use.

Probably the best external on NE

Adrian T., Newegg
21 November 2010
  • Summary: For $99, I'd say it was quite a steal. Preforms very nicely, while up and down speeds I wish could be faster, but for it's longevity and use without the headache inducing software I'd say it's a sacrifice that is well worth it.
  • Pros: Hasn't died yet; one of the most common problems with most externals I see are dying within 1 week - 2 months. Doesn't need an external power source. It's powered directly from the USB cable. No significant heat problems yet. Vibration is very very very minimal (probably within normal limits).
  • Cons: Finger print magnet although definitely not a deal breaker.

"Metaphysical product perfection" - Wired

Edison O., Newegg
19 November 2010
  • Summary: Hey, you are not going to find a Hard drive this small, with this much capacity, without the need for a power cord. Buy it now. I have dropped this product while it was operating and no data was lost and no damage was made to its operational functionality.
  • Pros: The number one feature of this HDD is no power cord considering it's high capacity. I was able to find this product somewhere else for $99 dollars which was an excellent purchase price considering the above features. This is about the highest capacity hard drive you can buy without the power cord...
  • Cons: Product is false advertised. It does not actually have one terabyte. (1024 GB) It has only 931 GB. The smooth black finish wears down very easily and quickly.

Best Buy!!!!

CHRISTOPHER T., Newegg
17 November 2010
  • Summary: This hard drive is a great buy for those who have plenty of data and want an easy way to bring it along on the go. I am replacing older 3.5" A/C powered USB hard drives, which are smaller capacity, much heavier and have to be plugged in for power.
  • Pros: -Small case size; easy to carry -USB Powered; no AC adapter needed -Large 1TB Capacity
  • Cons: -Don't have more of these.........

Awesome

Anonymous, Newegg
29 October 2010
  • Summary: This little guy serves it's purpose quite well. I used it to back up my laptop while putting it back to factory settings (stupid Dell... I'll never buy one again... But that's a different story) and this worked great, though I didn't use the included software.
  • Pros: -quiet -nice design, and compact -plenty of space -no need for a power cable -fast transfer speed
  • Cons: I have no cons that affect the performance of the device, but here are a few things you may want to know: -the finish on this, while it looks quite sleek straight out of the box, scratches easily -There are about 65 gigs of unusable space on this, which is the norm, but just putting it out there

Nice Product

Anonymous, Newegg
14 October 2010
  • Summary: This drive comes in several colors but newegg never puts the colors on sale. Come on newegg, I want a blue one.
  • Pros: Good looking compact drive with only one USB cable. Fairly fast. I have all of my movies on this drive and so far it has worked flawlessly. Got it for 99 on sale here, want to buy another but waiting for newegg to put it on sale again.
  • Cons: USB cable could have been a little longer.
