Summary: Actively going to trash the Toshiba brand name when it comes to hard drives after today. Seriously had it with their drives.
Pros: It's small. It's self-powered. And it was cheap.
Cons: Don't you dare ever, ever, ever accidentally unplug a Toshiba external drive without properly dismounting it or you will never, ever see your data on it ever again. Accidents happen, and you can count on Toshiba to fail your data.
Excerpt: Toshiba hard drives have always been excellent for me. This one was odd in that when attached to PC windows 7 USB 3 port, it gave message stating it needed to be formatted first, which is probably wrong, and then a second message stating that it was unable to format, i.e., unusable..
Cons: Device started acting up after 1st month. 4 months later still locking up my computer. Drive has ticking noise and stop reading after 5-10 minutes of turning on, looking to replace before it stop working.
Excerpt: I like it generally, but it keeps wanted to restart it's back ups. And, after I have run a back up and checked that it has the green checkmark, and have restarted, it shows that the back up needs to be done again. I also have trouble downloading the updates. I wish it was a little simpler.
Excerpt: Though the drive does well with throughput, the connector on the drive is less than desirable. It does not stay attached to the drive and will come out at random times. I fear that data will get corrupted due to drive being disconnected with out properly being unmounted.
