Excerpt: Toshiba hard drives have always been excellent for me. This one was odd in that when attached to PC windows 7 USB 3 port, it gave message stating it needed to be formatted first, which is probably wrong, and then a second message stating that it was unable to format, i.e., unusable.. When attached via USB 2, it worked. Also, Toshiba website was disappointing in that the "support" menu for this drive did not even recognize the model number or serial number.
Excerpt: I like it generally, but it keeps wanted to restart it's back ups. And, after I have run a back up and checked that it has the green checkmark, and have restarted, it shows that the back up needs to be done again. I also have trouble downloading the updates. I wish it was a little simpler. And, it wants to back up to the cloud, but I am not paying extra for that and don't want it, so it shows the back up as incomplete.
Excerpt: Though the drive does well with throughput, the connector on the drive is less than desirable. It does not stay attached to the drive and will come out at random times. I fear that data will get corrupted due to drive being disconnected with out properly being unmounted.
Summary: The drive started out okay. My other Seagate drives (a 3TB backup plus, and a 4 TB expansion) would often disconnect and reconnect to my Lenovo laptop every so often (I still have no idea if that's a problem with the hard drive, the laptop, or Windows 8, but it is utterly annoying). That didn't happen with this drive. However, the Toshiba drive ultimately failed after two months.
