Summary: If you loose the power cord as one such reviewer had a complaint about, this product will power up if you run it through the firewire to your pc and or with the mac firewire 400 to 800 adapter. You don't need the power cord. I own one myself and it has been highly durable and reliable.
Summary: We have TWO of these for a few years! It is used every day. Connected to computer 24/7. NO PROBLEM, not even one issue. Great quality, great performance. We are buying another product from this mfg company.
Summary: I've had this exact model for over a year and droped it from 4ft off the ground on to a hard wood floor. I thought for sure it would'nt work. I plugged it in my PC and not only did it work, but all my data was still intact!!!
Summary: I bought this external drive in late 2005 or early 2006, and have used it on two XP laptops, leaving it plugged in the majority of the time, and it still works fine. My oldest laptop occasionally won't recognize it, but I tend to think that's a problem with it being an old and worn out windows...

Summary: Perhaps it's the luck of the draw, but I have been using my Firelite disk for 2 years now, without a hitch. I've used the entire capacity at times and the disk never fails to mount, it's fast, easy and it's been a lifesaver.
Summary: I have three of these and all are working well. They are very convenient as backup drives for Powerbooks because they are bus powered and they are capable of making bootable clones using Carbon Copy Cloner, not all drives are.
Summary: I carry this around with my Macbook and use it to store photos until I'm back home where I can load them into my larger disks. It's been to Europe and Africa and Antarctica without the slightest problem. Recommended.
Pros: Extremely portable; does not require external power source
