Silicon Power Diamond D05 750GB USB 3.0
6 December 2011
Summary: A lot of manufacturers are utilizing the new USB 3.0 interface to bring out new hard drive enclosures. Naturally, Silicon Power is one of these companies. The Stream S10 managed to turn heads with its looks, performance and price, the Diamond D05 is mostly going for the esthetic factor. While the drive performs alright, it does not manage to shine anywhere. Additionally, the unit does not offer a pouch or bag, like the S10 or many other enclosures in the market.
Pros: Stylish Aluminum plating, Available in grey (D05), blue or pink (D10), Noticeable performance boost from USB 3.0, Slim design, Good USB 3.0 performance, Average USB 2.0 read performance, 3 years warranty
Cons: No extras - just cable & manual, "Diamond" is the Aluminum plate, the rest is a normal plastic housing, Not quite as fast as other USB 3.0 enclosures - probably due to hard drive used, Slow USB 2.0 write performance, No frills drive, Availability
