Not worth the extra cost for wi-fi

Excerpt: Bought this as a wi-fi backup device, but I have yet to get the w-fi to work. For about half the price or less you can have a non-wi-fi version with 2x to 5x the storage capacity. Cannot recommend this device.
Worked great at first, then wifi stopped working about 30 days after purchase

Summary: First, I am not a tech type person, but I can follow directions. I setup the drive and connected via the Seagate Wireless App without problem for the first month I had this drive. I streamed music and video, and read/saved several documents via the Seagate App onto my iPad and also my Android phone.
Excerpt: I bought to save pictures from sd card via ipad... probably is my fault but the software doesn't permit to change folders and destination when using wi-fi connection. the wi-fi isn't fast enough to view films on ipad from disk... the battery life is enough but really short.
Summary: I was able to get it working with my iPad 4 with the sample files, music and video, but could not load my own and get it to work. I worked with seagate support to no avail. As usual with Amazon returning was a breeze. Don't expect plug and play.
Summary: I find no compelling reason to buy this product over the Seagate 1TB USB3 portable hard drive. The added wifi capabilities are severely lacking. There is absolutely no reason to choose to use this wirelessly over plugging it into the computer and sharing it across the network via samba or Windows'...
Pros: I will make this review simple to read and understand; it is not fun to read entire walls of text. * The drive may connect wirelessly to your network for connection from any smartphone, tablet, or computer. However, see cons. * The drive may last for a temporary amount of time without needing to ...
Cons: * It is not foolproof; In order to get it connected to your network and accessible from your computers that have a wired connection, it requires a bit of knowledge in networking to get configured. First the user must access the webpage from a computer by wirelessly connecting to the device via a ...
TO MUCH HASSLE AND REQUIRES ADDITIONAL APPS AND SOFTWARE DOWNLOADS TO BE COMPATIBLE

Summary: At first this product seams brilliant, but the more you dig deeper into its functions and features you realise that it can be very frustrating and long winded. Good points: * Yes it is handy as a wireless point when kids want to access internet say on long journey's in car * Yes its pretty simple to...
Lazy and dysfunctional software support for neat-idea hardware.

Summary: I read a lot of poor reviews of this product but wanted it to work so badly that I still took the gamble on it. To try and be as succinct as possible, the hardware, which is a great idea, is crippled by under developed and badly implemented software.
Summary: I purchased this drive as I have a large library of video and music painstakingly created from my DVD collection. What a great idea having an extension of the very limited memory of a tablet device. The reality is some what different, the battery life after only a weeks use is 3 hours at best.
Summary: Purchased the 2 Tb version for photo backups along with a music and video collection during a 1 month trip away from mobile and wifi signal. Using the latest version of the iOS app 2.13 had the following issues. 1. The on/off button is hit or miss, sometimes it powers up sometimes doesn't.
